Exosomes - importance and role in the formation of cancer.
Exosomes are small vesicles secreted by most cells in both physiological and pathological conditions.
Their main function is participation in intercellular communication. In the case of cancer they can contribute to the progression of the disease and the chemoresistance.
Exosomes reflect the state of the cell by which they are secreted, therefore they can be used as markers of cancer development, as well as to monitor the effects of treatment.
In addition, exosomes can be modified to transport drugs or other anti-cancer agents to cancer cells.
